The project included the design and construction of breakwaters (partial demolition of existing breakwater and construction of new breakwater) to provide sea defense and protection to the new entrance channel to the existing Dubai Dry Docks and the new Dubai Maritime City facilities.

The main items of work comprised:
Construction of 5Km breakwaters.
Construction of 1.9Km revetments
Demolition of 1.65Km of existing breakwater
Partially demolition of 3.4km existing breakwater
Sea defence to contain the land reclamation.
